BLI Graduation Year: 2005
Tell us briefly about yourself and please update your classmates on your personal/professional experiences since graduating from BLI: I’m a Deputy director for the Ethics organization at Lockheed Martin. I also teach a graduate-level Global Ethics course at Binghamton University.
Current and Past Notable Civic Activities (boards, organizations, [member/officer]): Past member of the BLIAA board.
Interests/Hobbies (sports, music, travel, etc): I travel a lot with my job. When I visit “cool places”, I bring my husband along, so we can take some extra time to explore new places. My favorite singer/artist is Elton John. I’ve seen him dozens of times – and I am going to his Farewell tour – so I can see him one last time!
How did your BLI experience change your perception of the community? I now have a better appreciation for what our community offers. I’ve lived in this area all my life – but never took advantage of what we have in our own backyard.
How did your BLI experience motivate you to become more involved in the community? Simple. Once I understood what this area has to offer and all the good people we have in the community that never blink an eye to helping their neighbor, I knew I had to become engaged. The satisfaction of being involved is second to none – there is no better feeling than to know you have helped a neighbor or business.
What was your most memorable BLI activity/moment? The learning experience, for sure. As I mentioned, I never knew all this area had to offer. It was a true eye-opener for me. It’s like that old saying, “We take for granted what we have in our own backyard, yet we never take advantage of it!”
What was the most valuable benefit to you from your BLI experience? The networking experiences. You meet so many people throughout your time with BLI. Relationships are formed, and you stay in touch.
What “nugget of wisdom” do you have for your fellow BLI alum? Take advantage of everything BLI has to offer. Learn what this community has to offer and network with the leaders in your class and those you meet at the various businesses in the area.
