BLI Graduation Year: 2019
Tell us briefly about yourself and please update your classmates on your personal/professional experiences since graduating from BLI:
I am currently the Marketing & Development Coordinator for HCA, a local non-profit organization that has been providing programs and services to the developmentally disabled people in our community since 1947. I have been in this role for almost three years but have been with the organization for over 25 years. With this role and through my BLI experience, I have formed some great personal as well as professional relationships within the Greater Broome County community through volunteer opportunities, participation in fundraising events and collaborative efforts with local businesses and non-profit organizations.
Favorite books/movies:
John Grisham books; Mel Brooks movies, and documentaries
Current and Past Notable Civic Activities:
Recently elected to the BLI Alumni Board, volunteered at our area’s first Night to Shine Prom, volunteer at Dick’s Sporting Goods Open and volunteer opportunities at my parish
Interests/Hobbies:
I enjoy dancing, exercising, baking and NFL football – Pittsburgh Steelers fan!
How did your BLI experience change your perception of the community, and motivate you to become more involved in the community?
My BLI experience opened my eyes to a vast number of businesses and organizations in our community that lean on each other and support one another through economic development, volunteering, networking and development.
What was your most memorable BLI activity/moment?
My most memorable moment was our Class of 2019 working together, raising $9,300 for the Food Bank’s Back Pack program. Our goal was $5,000 and it was a great accomplishment to reach and exceed our goal!
What was the most valuable benefit to you from your BLI experience?
My most valuable benefit was being given the opportunity to spend 9 months with some of the most passionate, dedicated and kind leaders that I have ever met. We worked very well together and accomplished so much in the short time we had.
What “nugget of wisdom” do you have for your fellow BLI alum?
Don’t let little setbacks derail your from your path. If you’re passionate enough in what you do, stay the course!
